As the customary greetings of 'Til gul ghya goad bola’ set the tone
Makar Sankranti festivities, Marathi TV’s popular onscreen pair, Nikkhhil Chavaan and Anushka Sarkate too will be seen forgetting bitterness and extending a hand of friendship on the show Karbhari Laybhari.
We caught up with the pair on the sets of the show to speak about their bond and Sankranti memories.
Off the screen, Nikkhhil and
Anushka share a Tom and Jerry-like relationship. "Every day Nikhil greets everybody except me when he comes to the set. He does it intentionally to irritate me. Everybody on the set thinks we can't stand each other, but we both are actually very good friends,” shares Anushka.
Nikkhhil , who was earlier seen in Lagir Zala Ji, adds that he keeps playing pranks on Anushka but at the end of the day, their relationship is as sweet as the til gul. Nikhil also says that he loves flying kites during Makar Sankranti. “My elder brother and I would fly kites a lot. Later, we’d collect all the ones that were cut and would sell them at cheaper prices. We were quite the entrepreneurs,” he laughs.
As for Anushka, who grew up in a joint family, kite-flying during
Sankranti would mean a competition organised between the 22 members of her family. “We would also have themes for outfits and the ladies would wear black and gold coloured clothes, black Paithanis etc,” she recalls.
For the festival this year, the team members of the show will follow an all-black theme and will celebrate the day gorging on til gul and til laddoos.
